| Racial Harmony Day Celebration |
Yesterday, our school celebrated Racial Harmony Day. We get to wear traditional ethnic costumes and shoes to school. Since there was a fashion parade, I decided to wear my cheongsam with my beaded shoes. When I reached school, I saw that many of my friends also wear traditional costumes. Actually, Racial Harmony Day was supposed to be celebrated on the 21st of July. However, our school brought it forward to the 24th because we had assembly on that day. Racial Harmony Day is the day where we commemorate the 1964 Race Riots, which took place on 21 July 1964. Our teacher had to choose the pupil which wore the most beautiful costume. After much consideration, she chose Reena because her costume was attractive. We spent the rest of the day attending lessons. When recess time came that was when the fun began. From five stones to blowing bubbles, to henna painting and photo- taking, there was just so much fun! A period after recess,we had assembly we watched performances by the Chinese dance, Malay dance and Indian dance groups. After that we watched the fashion parade. Reena won for the P4 level. That day was an enjoyable day for me. I can't wait for Racial Harmony Day next year! |
